Laundry Room
This room was completely rebuilt during the major renovations for the Young family in 1901. The laundry was fitted with all the conveniences of the early 20th century, including large, built-in wash tubs, hot and cold running water, and a separate stove (no longer installed), for heating irons. After soiled linens were washed in the tubs, or later in one of the washing machines, they were wrung out and hung to dry either behind the Carriage House or in this room depending on the season and weather.
